Full Description

The OS 2nd edn 25in map (1898) (1) shows steps mounting West Cliff from the beach to West Cliff Promenade. The steps may have linked a Coastguard Station (MDO15363) on the cliff top and a boat house (MDO32820) on the foreshore. The 4th edn 1:2500 map (1933) shows steps on a zig-zag alignment on the same site.
