Summary

A probable plough levelled Bronze Age round barrow is visible as a soilmark on aerial photographs. The site is defined by a single ring ditch which encloses a circular area measuring 23m in diameter. Total diameter circa 30m. There is no sign of any barrow mound or other internal feature such as a funerary deposit.

Full Description

A probable Bronze Age round barrow is visible as a soilmark on aerial photographs. The site is centred at ST 9427 1038 and is defined by a single ring ditch which encloses a circular area measuring 23m in diameter. It is probably the plough levelled remains of a Bronze Age round barrow, several of which are known in this area. The barrow is located 12m east of the round barrow recorded as ST 91 SW 134 (UID: 1481294 / MDO32822) and the two should probably be considered as a pair. There is no sign of any barrow mound or other internal feature such as a funerary deposit. <1>

The feature is also visible as a faint circular annular cropmark c 30m in diameter on an aerial photograph dated 1982 <1> and was digitally plotted from this source during the Dorset Middle Stour AI&M project.
