Full Description

A cemetery with a lodge building to the east is first shown on the OS 2nd edn 25in map (1902) <1>, with the 4th edn 1:2500 map (1933) <2> showing a substantial extension to the west.

Parkstone Cemetery opened in the late 19th Century (c. 1890) and spans 10 hectares. There is a Cemetery Lodge at the entrance. The Cemetery Chapel was demolished in the late 20th Century. There is a large pillared grave commemorating Florence Edith MacNaughton (1878 - 1946). Planted with trees, shrubs. Located on Sandbanks Road and Elgin Road. Prominent tomb of Florence Edith MacNaughton (1878 - 1946). The cemetery was considered for inclusion in the Register of Parks and Gardens, but was not added to the Register. <3>
