Full Description
The name Torford was recorded on the shore in 1811 (1) and Turford on the OS 1st edn 25in map (1889) (2). Mills (1977) (3) suggests that this may have been the location of a ford. The closest point on the N side of the navigable Wareham Channel to which a ford may have led, however, is about 750m away.
