Full Description
The place-name Colway Gate is shown on the 1st edn OS 25in map (c 1890) (1), suggesting a possible turnpike gate. Wanklyn (1927, 243) (2) refers to 'a turnpike' at Colway Gate and the post WW2 25in map shows Toll Gate Cottage on the site (3).
