Full Description

The Langton Herring tithe map (c 1840) (1) and apportionment (2) record a quadrangular plot of 1 acre, 1 rood and 35 perches adjacent to a stream as 'Withy Bed', with the state of cultivation recorded as 'Willows'. The plot is shown on the OS 1st edn 25in map (1889) (3) with the stream running through it and marked with the OS convention for osiers. It is depicted similarly on the OS 2nd edn (1902) (4) but not on later mapping (5).
