Full Description
A near straight linear feature 370m long is shown lying WSW-ENE on heathland NE of Little Sea on the OS 1st edn 25in map (1889) (1). The 2nd edn OS 25in map (1901) (2) shows it dividing marshy ground to the N from rough grassland and heath to the S. The vegetation depicted on the 3rd edn map (1925) (3) makes it clear that the feature crosses an area of marshy or wet ground and it seems probable that it was originally intended to prevent flooding or marine incursion from the N.
