Full Description

The tithe map (c 1840) (1) and OS 1st edn 25in map (2) show a series of fishponds in woodland in a valley named North Gwyll between Encombe and Encombe Farm (now Encombe Dairy). The ponds formed part of a more extensive ornamental landscape associated with Encombe. The ponds are still extant (3).
