Full Description
'A' - Ditchless, grass-covered bowl barrow, 21.0 m diameter and 3.2 m high has a large overgrown pit on top. (2)
'A' - Bowl barrow, 24 paces diameter and 8 ft high on arable ground. (3)
'A' - (125) - SY 65139036. Bowl barrow, 60 ft diameter and 11 ft high. <4>
Two barrows situated 2 1/2 miles from Dorchester, close to the south side of the Bridport Road were excavated by E Cunnington in 1884. Cunnington's No 21 contained a central cairn, above which (near the top of the barrow) was a cremation near three urns, broken by four intrusive inhumations. … RCHM equate Cunnington's barrow No 21 with 'A' - SY 65139036 and No 22 with 'B' - SY 65189018. <4>
'A'. SY 65129036. Bowl barrow as described, diameter 20.0 metres, height 3.2 metres. Not ploughed. No visible ditch. 'A' Resurveyed at 1:2500 on M.S.D. <5>
The site of a Bronze Age round barrow is visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs. <7>
