A post medieval chalk pit is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs of the 1940s on Chaldon Down, Chaldon Herring. The pit is sub-rectangular in shape and measures approximately 9 m by 18 m. (1) The pit is not visible on the most recent comprehensive photography available to the project. (2) This feature was digitally plotted as part of the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.
