A post medieval sand pit is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs of the 1940s to the north of Northground Dairy, Chaldon Herring. The pit measures approximately 90 m by 30 m. (1) The sand pit is marked on the 1st ed OS map. (2) This feature was digitally plotted as part of the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.
