Full Description
An area of post medieval chalk pits is visible as earthworks on aerial photographs of 1946 to the west of Chaldon Herring. The features consist of an area of small extractive pits visible over an area measuring 115 m by 60 m. (1) The quarries are not visible as earthworks on the most recent comprehensive aerial photographic cover available to the project of 2009. (2) This feature was digitally plotted as part of the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.
