Two post medieval chalk pits are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs of 1946 at High Chaldon, west of Chaldon Herring. The quarries are formed of pits measuring 19 m in diameter and 50 m by 60 m. (1) The quarries are not visible as earthworks on the most recent comprehensive aerial photographic cover available to the project of 2009. (2) This feature was digitally plotted as part of the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.
