Full Description
A scattered area of post medieval chalk pits is visible as earthworks and cropmarks on aerial photographs to the south east of Lord's Barrow, Owermoigne. The quarries are visible over an area measuring approximately 350 m by 90 m. (1-2) The quarries are partially visible as cropmarks on the most recent comprehensive aerial photographic cover available to the project of 2009. (4) One of the quarries is marked on the 1st ed OS map. (4) This feature was digitally plotted as part of the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.
