Full Description
A scattered area of post medieval chalk pits is visible as earthworks and cropmarks on aerial photographs to the south of Owermoigne. The quarries are formed of pits visible over an area measuring approximately 290 m by 275 m. (1) The quarries are not visible as earthworks on the most recent comprehensive aerial photographic cover available to the project of 2009. (4) One of the quarries is marked on the 1st ed OS map. (5) This feature was digitally plotted as part of the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.
