Full Description
An area of possible post medieval extractive pits, are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs of the 1940s on Chaldon Down, Chaldon Herring. The pits are sub-circular and measure up to 2 m in diameter. They are visible over an area measuring approximately 185 m by 60 m. (1) The features are not visible on aerial photographs of 2009. (2) This feature was digitally plotted as part of the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.
