Full Description
Medieval or post medieval trackways or field boundaries are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs of the 1940s to the north of West Chaldon, Chaldon Herring. The features may have been associated with an area of shrunken medieval settlement around West Chaldon. The features are formed of linear banks and ditches, predominantly oriented north west-south east. They are visible over an area measuring approximately 470 m by 160 m. (1) The features are partially visible as earthworks on aerial photographs of 2009. (2) These features were digitally plotted as part of the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.
