A probable post medieval chalk pit is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs of 2002 and 2009 to the south west of Winfrith Newburgh. The pit is sub-oval in form and measures 17 m by 20 m. (1-2) The pit is also marked on the 1st ed OS map. (3) This feature was digitally plotted as part of the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.
