A post medieval chalk pit is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs of the 1940s to the west of Chaldon Down, Chaldon Herring. The pit measures approximately 45 m by 25 m. (1) This feature was digitally plotted as part of the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.
