Two medieval or post medieval chalk pits are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs of the 1940s and 1970s to the south west of Chaldon Herring. The pits measure 19 m by 21 m and 28 m by 15 m. (1) These features were digitally plotted as part of the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.
