Two medieval or post medieval chalk pits are visible as very low earthworks on aerial photographs of the 1940s at West Chaldon, Chaldon Herring. The pits measure 17 m in diameter and 34 m by 25 m. (1) These features were digitally plotted as part of the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.
