Full Description
Two possible post medieval enclosures or extractive pits are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs of the 1940s to the south of Crossways. The earthworks consists of two banked enclosures: a sub-square enclosure and a sub-rectangular enclosure measuring 30 m by 30 m and 22 m by 17 m respectively. It is possible that the banked enclosures may also have been formed by extraction. (1) The site is not visible as an earthwork on recent aerial photography. (2) This site was digitally plotted as part of the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.
