Full Description
Three blocks of medieval or post medieval ridge and furrow and three isolated ridges or plough headlands are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs of the 1940s and lidar imagery to the south of the centre of Warmwell. The ridges in the southernmost block are oriented north-south. Two blocks are located adjacent to the north with ridges oriented east-west. These two blocks are separated by a north-south oriented linear bank, possibly a plough headland. Two north-south oriented isolated ridges or plough headland lie to the east and west of the top two blocks. They are visible over an area measuring approximately 440 m by 390 m. (1) The northernmost blocks only are visible on recent lidar imagery. (2) This site was digitally plotted as part of the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.
