Full Description
Post medieval drains or land improvement works are visible as earthworks and cropmarks on aerial photographs on Galton Heath to the north east of Owermoigne. The earthworks consist of narrow, linear, banks and ditches oriented predominantly north-south, south west-north east and east-west. The earthworks are visible over an area measuring approximately 1425 m by 555 m. The majority of the site is visible as earthworks on aerial photographs of the 1940s (1-3), with elements in the north eastern area visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs of 2005. (4) This site was digitally plotted as part of the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.
