A rounded hollow is visible as a low earthworks on aerial photographs taken in 1970 to the south of Rectory Farm, Winfrith Newburgh (1). It is considered likely to be the site of a post medieval extractive pit. The site has since been plough-levelled and is visible as cropmarks and earthworks on recent Google Earth imagery. It was digitally plotted during the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.
