A 'Gravel Pit' is marked at this location on the OS 1 st edition map. The extractive feature is visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken in 1945 along with three associated buildings (1). It is considered to be of late 19th century date. The site has been plough-levelled and no longer visible on recent Google Earth imagery, it was digitally plotted during the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.
