An 'Old Chalk Pit' is marked at this location on the OS 1st Edition Map. It is visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken in 1970 (1). The site was digitally plotted during the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project. The feature is still visible as an extant earthwork on the most recent Google Earth imagery.
