Two post medieval to modern sand and gravel pits are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs of the 1940s to the east of Woodsford Road, Crossways. The site of the pits is now built over. The pits measured approximately 115 m by 70 m and 38 m by 25 m. (1-2) This feature was digitally plotted as part of the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.
