Full Description
A large post medieval to modern sand and gravel pit is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs of the 1940s on Outer Heath, Crossways. The pit has been digitally plotted to its extent in the 1940s, but now forms part of Warmwell Quarry. The pit measured approximately 590 m by 360 m. ( 1-3) This feature was digitally plotted as part of the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.
