Summary

A possible Bronze Age bowl barrow on Shorn Hill. Recorded by field investigators as a plough-reduced mound. Also visible as a very low earthwork on aerial photographs.

Full Description

Round barrow, ploughed almost flat. On arable, 1 1/2 ft high. <1> <3>

SY 63438730. Bowl barrow in arable and much ploughed-down, diameter approximately 20.0m., height 0.4m. No visible ditch. Re-surveyed at 1:2500 on M.S.D. <4>

Also visible as a very low earthwork on aerial photographs <6-7>, measuring approximately 15.3 metres in diameter. This site was digitally plotted during the South Dorset Ridgeway Mapping Project.
