Full Description

A post medieval extractive pit or quarry is visible as earthworks on aerial photographs to the ESE of Alms Grove Gate (1-2). It is not marked on the OS 1st edition map. The underlying geology is chalk. The site is still visible as an extant earthwork on recent Google Earth imagery; it was digitally plotted during the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.
