Summary

An elongated pit is visible as earthworks on Povington Heath on aerial photographs taken in 1946. The feature lies 60m to the north west of the barrow described in MDO8089. It is possibly a post medieval extractive pit or of military origin.

An elongated pit is visible as earthworks on Povington Heath on aerial photographs taken in 1946 (1). The feature lies 60m to the north west of the barrow described in MDO8089. It is possibly a post medieval extractive pit or of military origin. The feature is no longer visible on recent Google Earth imagery and may have been levelled. It was digitally plotted during the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.
