A probable post medieval extractive pit on the southern end of the natural mound known as Black Barrow is visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken in 1945 (1). The site was digitally plotted during the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project. The features are obscured by a modern plantation and no longer visible on recent Google Earth imagery.
