Summary
Military casemates built around 1860, probably to a design by Captain W Crossman, Royal Engineers, general designer of The Citadel. The casemates run along the south-west and south-eastern edges of the enclosure, and are faced continuous high wall and backed by high earth mounds covered in turf.
