House, formerly the Prison Governor’s House, The Verne, Portland A detached house built around 1870 to a design by Colonel Cox, Royal Engineers. The main part of the house is a square two-storey block with lower wings housing an office and service yard to the north. The building has walls of ashlar with a slate roof.
