Summary

Three adjoining locomotive sheds built around the middle of the nineteenth century for the Admiralty Quarries railway which carried stone down to the harbour to build the breakwater. The sheds were built at different times but all are shown on a map of 1864. Work on the breakwater started in 1847 and finished around 1905, but the sheds continued in use until around 1935, and the lines were dismantled during World War Two.
