Summary

Bowl, 37ft. in diam and 4.5ft. high. Ploughed and excavated in the centre. Visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs {1}. The site was digitally plotted during the South Dorset Ridgeway Mapping Project.

Full Description

Three bowl barrows. … 'C' 14 paces in diameter, 3 ins high with a hollow centre and indications of a retaining wall. <2>

Three bowl barrows, one now ploughed out. 'C' Diameter 13.0m, height 1.2m grass covered. A trench 1.5m wide and 1.0m deep has been cut across the barrow from N-S. There are vague traces of a ditch. This barrow is of flinty construction, with some stones loosely lying in the side, though nothing in the nature of a retaining wall. <3>

Three barrows: 'C' Bowl (SY 65178670) diameter 37 ft, height 4.5 ft. Ploughed and excavated in centre. <4> <6>

'C' SY 65178670. Bowl barrow, diameter 10.0m, height 0.2m. No visible ditch. In grass now but has been ploughed down. 'A' and 'C' re-surveyed at 1:2500 on M.S.D. <9>

SY 649868. "Round barrow N of Ridgeway". Scheduled. <7>

Visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs <12>. The site was digitally plotted during the South Dorset Ridgeway Mapping Project.
