Full Description

(Centred SY 643867) Three round barrows - 'A'. Ditched bowl barrow 79 feet diameter by 11 feet high. Ditch about 25 ft wide
on east. Excavated in centre. <1> <2>

'A' SY 64248673. Bell barrow with a ditch visible on North-east quadrant only. 5.0m., wide and 0.2m. deep. diameter of mound 25.0m overall diameter 40.0m. height 3.6m. The berm is visible on the north-east quadrant only, 2.5m. wide. Not ploughed. Re-surveyed at 1:2500 on M.S.D. <4>

Site of a Bronze Age barrow, one of a group of three barrows (MDO357-59) and part of a larger barrow cemetery extending along the Dorset Ridgeway.

Also visible as circular earthwork mound on aerial photographs <6-9>, measuring approximately 22 metres in diameter. This site was digitally plotted during the South Dorset Ridgeway Mapping Project.

Ditch visible on the SW quadrant only. 5.0m wide and 0.2m deep. Diameter mound 25.0m and overall diameter 40.0m, ht. 3.6m. The ditch survives in an unploughed verge in a field corner. A stone wall crosses the W side of the mound N-S. Barrow itself is grass covered but the surrounding field is in ley pasture. 1/3/C
