Monument record MDO3155 - Bowl barrow in the Ridge Hill group, Winterborne St Martin

A Bronze Age bowl barrow, one of a group of five barrows and part of a larger barrow cemetery extending along the South Dorset Ridgeway. Recorded as an extant mound by field investigators. Also visible as circular earthwork mound on aerial photographs.

Five round barrows on Ridge Hill: 'D'. Bowl (64018679) 75 yds. east south east of 'C'. Diam 46 ft, ht 4 ft. <1> <3>

'D' SY 64018679. Bowl barrow; diameter 20.0m., height 0.7m., No visible ditch. All the barrows are in an arable field but only 'D' has been ploughed over. Re-surveyed at 1:2500 on M.S.D. <4>

All the barrows are in an arable field. Also visible as circular earthwork mound on aerial photographs <7-10>, measuring approximately 14.6 metres in diameter. This site was digitally plotted during the South Dorset Ridgeway Mapping Project.
