Summary

Disc barrow 40 metres in diameter is visible on aerial photographs as a cropmark ring ditch with internal ditch and central pit. This monument was first seen on an aerial photograph taken by John Boyden in 1976. The site was digitally plotted for the South Dorset Ridgeway Mapping Project. The pit seems likely to represent a burial of some sort.

Full Description

Circa SY 69408505. An almost ploughed-out round barrow, characteristic of a disc barrow, was found on Bincombe Hill by C.J. Bailey during the drought of 1976. Colour transparencies of the site are held by Bailey. <1>
