Full Description
A post medieval chalk pit it marked on the First Edition OS map (1), located on the southern side of Brenscombe Hill, Corfe Castle. A pit is visible as an earthwork at this location on aerial photographs (2). This feature was digitally plotted during the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.

A chalk pit recorded as ‘disused’ on the 1891 O.S. map. This is the earliest known documentary evidence for it. The pit lies near the foot of a steep south slope and measures approximately 30m dia.
