Summary

Site of a Bronze Age bowl barrow, part of a larger barrow cemetery extending along the Dorset Ridgeway. Field investigations record it as an extant mound. Also visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs.

Full Description

Ditched bowl barrow located at the head of a combe, around 45 feet in diameter with a mound about 3 feet high. The surrounding ditch is 12 feet wide, but ploughed. {1-2}.

Bowl barrow in arable. Diameter 16.0m. Height 0.6m. Ploughed. No visible ditch. {3}.

Also visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs {4-7}, measuring approximately 14.3 metres in diameter. This site was digitally plotted during the South Dorset Ridgeway Mapping Project.
