A group of small circular pits are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs of Brenscombe Heath, Corfe Castle taken in 1946 (1). They are considered likely to be the remains of Second World War foxholes or shell holes associated with military activity in this area. These features were digitally plotted during the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.
