Full Description
Site of a possible Bronze Age bowl barrow, part of a larger linear barrow cemetery extending along the Dorset Ridgeway.
Bowl barrow, diameter 33 ft, height 2 1/2 ft. Much damaged {1-2}.
Later field investigations record it as having a diameter of 13.0m., height 1.3m. Not ploughed
over, though in arable. No visible ditch {3}.
Also visible as an earthwork and a cropmark on aerial photographs {4-7}, seen as a ditched mound measuring approximately 10.5 metres in diameter, with an outer ditch 0.9 meters wide. This site was digitally plotted during the South Dorset Ridgeway Mapping Project.
