Full Description
The potential site of a Second World War military installation is visible as earthworks and demolished structures on aerial photographs taken in 1945 to the south of Blackmanston Farm, Steeple (1). The features include a linear ditch, possibly a trackway with associated three small circular bank and ditched features approximately 8m across as well as other small rectilinear structures. The features are considered likelt to be of military origin, possibly the site of a battery (anti-aircraft or searchlights?). The features are no longer visible on the most recent Google Earth imagery. They were digitally plotted during the Wild Purbeck NMP.
