A mound recorded by field investigators and interpreted as a possible Bronze Age bowl barrow. Also visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs.

Full Description

Site of a possible Bronze Age bowl barrow, part of a larger linear barrow cemetery extending along the Dorset Ridgeway.

Bowl barrow on the lip of steep North East slope, 70 yds, diameter 27 ft, height 3 ft {1-2}.

Later field investigations record it as having a diameter of 18.0m., height 0.6m {3}.

Also visible as a cropmark on aerial photographs {4}, measuring approximately 7.9 metres in diameter. This site was digitally plotted during the South Dorset Ridgeway Mapping Project.

A swelling exists here but it is indistinguishable from the natural slopes which fall away gradually to the S and more steeply to the N without interruption. That which survives gives the appearance of a natural feature. Situated in a field of regularly improved ley pasture. 1/7/E
