Full Description
A scattered area of post medieval possible extractive pits is visible as earthworks and cropmarks on lidar imagery and aerial photographs to the south west of Bere Regis. The pits are located on Portsdown Chalk Formation. They are visible over an area measuring approximately 380 m by 250 m and measure between 62 m by 54 m and 24 m by 18 m. (1-3) These features were digitally plotted during the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.
