An area of small post medieval extraction pits is visible as earthworks on aerial photographs of 1946 to the west of Knowl Hill, Studland. The pits are situated on silty clay. They are a similar size, measuring up to approximately 5 m by 5 m. (1) These features were digitally plotted during the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.
