A group of post medieval extractive pits are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs of 1946 to the east of Kingwood Farm. The pits are situated on silty clay and are visible over an area measuring approximately 160 m by 215 m. They vary in size measuring between 6 m by 5 m and 100 m by 60 m. (1) These features were digitally plotted during the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.
