A group of five small post medieval extractive pits is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs of 1945 and 1946, to the east of Knitson, Langton Matravers. The pits are situated on sandstone and measure between 8 m by 11 m and 4 m by 4 m. (1-2) These features were digitally plotted during the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.
